Cultural Barn
(Kulturscheune)

The barn, which was erected in the Estate’s courtyard around the turn of the 20th century was used for agricultural purposes until just a few years ago, it was completed gutted and rebuilt and renovated in 1997.

While the building, with its red sandstone and wood finish, may appear simple from the outside, it is the more impressive inside with its great height and width, and its excellent acoustics. The roof timbers with their impressive supporting columns, are open towards the top, this and the wooden floor of Douglas fir grown in the Pfalz region provide the Cultural Barn with its unmistakable character. A venue that is in great demand for big festive events and corporate presentations.

The Cultural Barn can be booked at any time of year.

Barrel cellar

A walk around the oak barrel cellar of the wine Estate is one of the most impressive experiences one can make at the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Estate. Down here, in the wide-ranging vaulted cellar dating back to the 18th century, lies the nursery of our great Riesling wines.

On request we will also organise a reception or a wine tasting by candlelight.

Greenhouse

The idyllic greenhouse is located within the 1.5 hectare expanse of the English Garden. The glass panes give you a clear view of the sky, open nature, the church tower of Forst and of the Grand Cru site Kirchenstück.

As soon as dusk sets in, the English Garden is transformed into a romantically lit park. Light and candlelight are reflected endlessly in the glass surfaces.

The greenhouse can be booked at all times of year.

English Garden

Idyllic ambience of a beautifully landscaped park.
For additional information, simply page on.

English Garden

The English Garden, which was laid out next to the Bürklin Park in 1997/98, is light and airy. It covers and expanse of 1.5 hectares, and provides open views from every point of the impressive vineyard landscape of the Mittelhaardt region, and of the famous win-producing village of Forst. The old greenhouse is in a sense the hospitable centre point of the English Garden, open and transparent, while at the same time providing shelter and protection from wind and weather.

The English garden has been designed and created along the lines of the traditional English landscaped park. This means that it is open to the landscape, and the landscape surrounding it is actually the important element. From the English Garden, you have an unhindered view of the pristine landscape of the Mittelhaardt region close to Forst.

Croquet

The classic English lawn sport.
For additional information, simply page on.

Croquet lawn

Without a doubt, the highlight of the English Garden is the croquet lawn, which has a size of 26,50 m x 32 m, and, as a result of the type of grass and preparation, represents a professional playing field well worth seeing.

Croquet, a totally classic English lawn sport, in which a wooden hammer or mallet is used to guide heavy coloured balls through small hoops placed around the lawn can be played by young and old, men and women, families as well as children.

Professional croquet players can be booked as partners.

Sunken Garden

Green oasis with a tremendous view.
For additional information, simply page on.

Sunken Garden

The Sunken Garden is an element of the English Garden, an area of lawn 6 m x 20 m in size and slightly sunken, bounded by an embankment and beds of roses. The Sunken Garden is accessible from all four sides via three sandstone steps. They are in turn bounded on all sides by box trees cut into a ball shape.

Here you can sit comfortably and at the same time enjoy an 180 degree view towards the South, South-East and West, encompassing the vineyard sites between Wachenheim and Forst. Separated by a gravel path and located on the northern side of the Sunken Garden lies the croquet lawn, the lawn is precisely at eye level of visitors in the Sunken Garden. To the west lies our greenhouse.

Step out of this, and the Sunken Garden will immediately invite the visitor to stay awhile.
